Raw hex version of the bitcoin genesis block handwritten with oil-based metallic on limousine leather black acrylic. Hand stretched cotton canvas on 1.5” deep gallery frames.

Handwriting these lines is a mantra to remind us of the interconnectedness between physical and digital realms. The imperfections are a reflection of humanity’s flaws, the very reason a perfect and precise, cryptographically secured system of peer-to-peer transactions is necessary, to separate money and state.

These few lines of code immortalize the first step in a journey through space and time towards a more beautiful world we all know is possible.

On the 31st of October 1517 Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-five Theses onto the door of the All Saints’ Church in Wittenberg. This marked the beginning of the movement that led to the separation of church and state.

On the 31st of October 2008 Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin White Paper, marking the beginning of the movement that will lead to the separation of money and state.

There is something to be said for the mathematical precision found throughout nature in the very building blocks of existence, down to the atomic and molecular structure of all things.
It is only fitting that our most base store of value be built upon such numerical truth and precision.

There is an interesting relation between Bitcoin’s digital nodal network and an organic mycelial network found in nature.

Something to be said for a symbiotic balance of the organic and technologic.
